Andrzej Budnik – born and raised in the mountains, I’ve always connected traveling with recreational activity. The more physically tired I get, the more rested I feel and the more motivated I am to put work into action when the trip is over. If I had to say what I look for in my travels, it would be adventures, stunning nature, cultural differences and always pushing the border of my comfort zone a bit farther.
In July 2009, when my life partner Alicja and I left for a 4-year trip through Asia and Australia, I would’ve never expected that the backpack I left home with would be exchanged for a yacht, an off- road car, and that in the end I would ride a bike through Thailand, Japan, Afghanistan and the Caucasus all the way to Poland. This trip was noticed by scientists from the Polish Academy of Science who later sent us to the Artic to explore, take pictures, write about it on our blog and share via social media. To date, this has been one of the most notable experiences in my blogging career, regardless of receiving the Blog of the Year 2007 and being nominated for the prestigious National Geographic Traveler or Kolosy Awards.
Even though I like to distance myself from society and social media from time to time, I must admit that I’m a bit of a geek. I love new technologies – testing and experimenting with travel gear, photo equipment, and for the past three years, using the drone as a work tool. I take it with me wherever I go in order to supplement the standard travel photos with aerial photography. It shows us the world we had known before from a completely new perspective.
At Bloceania I’m responsible for coordinating and executing projects.
